142m Lürssen Superyacht Dragonfly Delivered

The 142-metre Lürssen superyacht Dragonfly has officially been delivered to her owner from the Lürssen Lemwerder facility in Germany.

Previously known as Alibaba, the construction of Dragonfly commenced in 2019. She was first seen in May 2022 when she emerged from the construction shed for final assembly. Launched in December 2023, the vessel showcases six expansive decks that seamlessly blend refined elegance with a bold, military-inspired aesthetic. Her distinctive profile is characterized by Lürssen’s signature elongated bow, angular contours, and striking exterior elements, exuding both power and sophistication.

In September 2024, Dragonfly successfully completed her sea trials near Brunsbüttel, Germany. Designed by German Frers, her naval architecture was developed in-house by Lürssen, while her interiors and exterior social areas were designed by Nauta Design.

A defining feature of Dragonfly is her expansive exterior decks, with her aft deck spanning nearly half of her profile. With an impressive interior volume of 9,408 GT, she offers a wealth of amenities, including a dedicated business deck with a spacious office, a state-of-the-art gym, a games room, and a helicopter hangar. One of the yacht's standout innovations is her bespoke double-folding platform system at the stern, which enables the deck above to fold into the platform, transforming it into a spacious and versatile beach club area with direct water access.

In terms of propulsion, Dragonfly is equipped with a highly efficient Diesel-Electric Hybrid Propulsion Concept, integrating diesel propulsion technology with modern electric propulsion systems. Her system comprises two diesel engines driving controllable pitch propellers through individual gearboxes, which include PTI/PTO units that can be used for either electric propulsion or power generation. Additionally, an electric Azimuth Pod Drive enhances maneuverability and efficiency, operating independently or in conjunction with the other propulsion components to achieve optimal performance.

With her cutting-edge technology, innovative design, and exceptional craftsmanship, Dragonfly is a testament to Lürssen’s expertise in delivering state-of-the-art superyachts that redefine luxury and performance on the water.
