70m Custom CRN Superyacht “Project Thunderball” Launched
Italian shipyard CRN has announced the launch of the 69.7-metre custom superyacht Project Thunderball, unveiled at the Ferretti Group Superyacht Yard in Ancona.
First introduced in September 2023, Project Thunderball was moved outside the shed for the first time in May 2024, marking a major milestone before entering the outfitting phase in Ancona.
Design & Naval Architecture
Also known as CRN 145, Project Thunderball is the result of a collaboration between CRN, Ferretti Group’s Superyacht Division, and Vripack, who were responsible for her exterior design, preliminary naval architecture, and general arrangement.
The yacht features a classic elongated bow and a sleek, flowing profile reminiscent of elegant sailing yachts. These lines are complemented by gently curved bilges and seamless surfaces, finished in a timeless colour palette: a deep blue hull, white superstructure, and a distinctive red bootstripe along the waterline.
Interior design and exterior social areas were developed by Milan-based Nauta Design, while CRN oversaw engineering, final naval architecture, project management, and delivery coordination throughout the build.
Accommodation & Layout
With an 11-metre beam and a gross tonnage of 1,100 GT, Project Thunderball is designed for refined long-range cruising and guest comfort.
She accommodates up to 12 guests, including an owner’s suite and five VIP staterooms, supported by a crew of up to 15 across nine cabins.
Performance & Technology
Powered by twin MAN V12 engines rated at 1,213 kW each, Project Thunderball reaches a top speed of 15.5 knots and a cruising speed of 12 knots.
The yacht is also equipped with an advanced Energy Storage System, designed to optimise onboard energy use according to operational demand. This enables peak shaving and silent anchoring, while also helping to reduce fuel consumption in select operating modes.
Delivery
Project Thunderball is scheduled for handover to her owner in summer 2026.
